Spotlight-Behind the Scenes: Recruiting Superstar Speakers

Dermatology Speaker:
Gina Mangin, MPAS, PA-C

“Where medical education meets fun” is our motto at Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts for good reason: Fun is a key ingredient of our recipe for success, with our focus on building community, traveling to destination locations for our CME Conferences, and selecting the most engaging and spirited, thought-leading speakers to teach during our four-day conferences!

No matter which conference you attend, you’ll notice that we dedicate an entire day to a particular topic, with one speaker handling each day-long track. Not only can our attendees take a deep dive into their area of expertise as a result, but they also become more familiar with the presenter’s style and delivery. It’s a more intimate, personable experience that opens itself to questions, dialogue, and laughter. The result? A better experience for the learner, leading 98 percent of our loyal audience saying they love our speakers.

“Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts’ speakers are all really great, very personable and very interactive,” said Ashley Valentine, a PA specializing in pediatric plastic surgery. “The sessions felt like a conversation, which I find so conducive to learning. Everything really stuck with me; it’s a great environment to learn!”

So, how do we do it, and what do we look for in a prospective speaker? In short, our speakers must meet our stringent “4E” criteria – that is, they must be able to educate, engage, energize, and entertain. That’s a unique combination, and it means that our speakers are extraordinarily talented and veteran clinicians within their area of specialty.

Finding such superstars takes time: Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts’ Founder and CEO Chuck Dillehay has – after 30 years in the CME field – made it a priority to personally attend dozens of local, state, regional, and national CME conferences in search of prospective speakers. He also constantly asks current presenters for introductions to any colleagues they feel are as passionate and dynamic as they are.

“We’re now in our 14th year of excellence in CME,” Dillehay added. “While most of our presenters are new each year, we have been known to reach back in time to bring back some of our legendary speakers, as well. We’re blessed with a deep and talented bench of star speakers who are fun to work with and who are always eager to return to our line-up because they love to educate their peers. That’s an important difference to me; it’s not enough to just love your specialty. You need to love sharing your knowledge and educating others, too!”

Great speakers, the best value per CME credit in the industry, destinations that sound more like a vacation than work, and exceptional education. Discover for yourself why 98% of our audience also say we met and/or exceeded their goals. Check out one of our 2024 CME Conferences
