Cervical Health Awareness Month was in January, and while action and focus on this preventable cancer is, of course, a year-round effort, the World Health Organization has a plan for the elimination of cervical cancer through vaccination and screening. The first strategy centers on the HPV vaccine, which was introduced in 2006. In that time, rates of cervical cancer incidence have dropped significantly among vaccinated women; one study from Sweden, in fact, found a 90 percent reduction in cervical cancer incidence compared with the incidence in women who had not been vaccinated over an 11-year period (2006 through 2017). The goal of cervical cancer screening—through Pap tests and HPV tests—is to find problems, like cell changes, so they can be treated before they turn into cancer.
But as with any health challenge, education about options, best practices, and care plans is critical – and that’s where Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts comes in. As a leading provider of CME, we’ve made women’s health a fundamental part of our in-person CME and online CME, with a mini package available online, worth 1.5 credit hours, as well as an on-demand CME program worth up to 13 CME credits and 4.25 Rx credits!
Mini Women’s Health On-demand CME course
The mini Women’s Health On-demand CME course – just $29 – is taught by women’s health expert Nisha McKenzie, PA-C, CSC, NCMP, IF, who provides an open and transparent discussion about female sexuality. She discusses the science behind female sexuality and the fact that it is not a “light” version of male sexuality, and she discusses the repercussions of women’s medical issues that often remain unanswered due to lack of time, lack of training, lack of available resources, discomfort, bias within the topic of sexuality, and more.
