Speaker Spotlight – Angela Golden, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP, FOMA

Angela Golden, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP, FOMA, is a family nurse practitioner, owner, and sole provider at NP From Home and NP Obesity Treatment Clinic – as well as a Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts’ speaker for our new combined cardiology and obesity CME course.

As obesity and cardiovascular disease often go hand-in-hand, we introduced new CME programming this year to cover both health challenges, with Dr. Golden adding, “The field of obesity management is expanding exponentially as we learn better ways to help patients eat better and be more active. We also have so many new medications in the pipeline to make treating the disease more individualized, and I’m excited to discuss and share those advances at upcoming CME Conferences. I’ve observed that more and more clinicians with an interest in treating the disease of obesity are looking for quality education about evidence-based treatment, and I’m looking forward to speaking with Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts this year.”

Dr. Golden has presented at conferences regionally, nationally, and internationally and has authored several book chapters and books, including Treating Obesity in Primary Care. Her research has been widely published in medical periodicals, and she serves as an associate editor for the International Journal of Obesity. She is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the 2023 America’s Top NP Award, the 2021 Steelman-Seim Educator Award for Excellence in Academics from the Obesity Medicine Association, the NP Excellence Award from AANP, and the Dr. Wm. David LaFevers Memorial Lectureship Award from the Advanced Practice Nurses of the Ozarks.

Cardiology-focused CME will be offered at every one of our 10 CME Conferences, with the combined cardiology/obesity CME taught by Dr. Golden at five locations (Destin, Hilton Head, Nashville, Austin, and Las Vegas).

Can’t make it to one of her dates but still want to focus on cardiology CME? It’s a worthy pursuit: One in every five deaths in the U.S. is related to cardiovascular disease, and more than 23,000 children experience cardiac arrest outside of the hospital each year. Viet Le, DMSc, PA-C, FACC, FAHA, HF-Cert, our second cardiology-focused 2025 speaker, is also interested in the link between weight loss and cardiology, adding, “I am particularly passionate about GLP1ra therapies for reducing heart disease. Cardiovascular medicine is beginning to transition to cardio-kidney metabolic health. There is a push to strongly consider GLP1ra (traditionally diabetic and/or weight loss meds) and use of SGLT-inhibitors (traditionally diabetic meds) for treating heart failure and also kidney disease, also reducing heart disease risk. There are now multiple 1-month, 6-month, and possibly 12-month injectables to treat cholesterol or blood pressure being studied or FDA approved. I am excited to share these findings and advances with CME Conference attendees!”
