It’s American Heart Month, when the medical community seeks to raise awareness about heart health and disease, encourage people to adopt healthy habits to prevent heart disease, and even learn lifesaving techniques like CPR. It’s an important effort, as one in every five deaths in the U.S. is related to cardiovascular disease. And, it’s not just adults: more than 23,000 children experience cardiac arrest outside of the hospital each year. Nearly half of U.S. adults also have high blood pressure, while just one in four has it under control. At Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts – a leading provider of continuing medical education (CME) – we’re big believers that education is step one in keeping our hearts healthy, so we’ve made cardiology CME part of our curricula since day one.
Whether nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), registered nurses (RNs), and physicians attend an in-person Conference where we offer full-day sessions dedicated to cardiology or download a cardiology session from our expansive On-demand library, our goal is to always make sure you have the most up-to-date, cutting-edge information and research available where and when you need it.

“I am particularly passionate about GLP1ra therapies for reducing heart disease,” Viet Le, DMSc, PA-C, FACC, FAHA, HF-Cert, one of our 2025 cardiology-focused speakers, said. “Cardiovascular medicine is beginning to transition to cardio-kidney metabolic health. There is a push to strongly consider GLP1ra (traditionally diabetic and/or weight loss meds) and use of SGLT-inhibitors (traditionally diabetic meds) for treating heart failure and also kidney disease, also reducing heart disease risk. There are now multiple 1-month, 6-month, and possibly 12-month injectables to treat cholesterol or blood pressure being studied or FDA approved. I am excited to share these findings and advances with CME Conference attendees!”
Need just a few CME hours? Our On-demand CME features a Cardiology & Emergency Medicine module worth 19 CME hours, while our “Best of the Best” from 2024 and 2023 also includes cardiology CME.
Lastly, our Master Clinician Series, which are free, half-hour webinars, also include cardiology-focused sessions, such as “Looking to Lower Lipids” by Margaret Bowers, DNP, FNP-BC, AACC, CHSE, FAANP, FAAN. While they are non-CME credits, they’re a great resource for someone looking to grow their knowledge in a short time.

Why is Heart-Focused CME Important?
- Better Patient Outcomes – Staying on top of the latest breakthroughs in heart health means you can give your patients the best care possible. Whether it’s catching heart disease early or fine-tuning treatment plans, CME helps you stay ahead of the game.
- Cutting-Edge Research & Guidelines – New studies and clinical trials are always changing the way we approach heart health. CME keeps you in the loop so you’re not relying on outdated info when making critical decisions.
- Sharper Diagnostic Skills – From high-tech imaging to game-changing biomarkers, CME helps you master the latest tools for spotting heart issues before they become major problems.
- Next-Level Treatment Options – The field of cardiology is evolving fast, and CME ensures you’re up to speed on the newest meds, procedures, and therapies—because your patients deserve the best options out there.
- Prevention is Key – Heart disease is a big deal, but prevention makes all the difference. CME covers the latest on nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes, so you can help your patients take charge of their heart health.
- Hands-On Training – Who doesn’t love a good simulation or live case study? Many CME courses give you practical experience with procedures like stent placement and electrophysiology, so you’re always improving your skills.
- Teamwork Makes the Dream Work – Collaboration is huge in cardiology! CME connects you with other specialists—primary care doctors, endocrinologists, and more—so patients get well-rounded care.
- Stay Certified & Stay Ahead – Let’s be real—CME isn’t just about learning, it’s also about keeping your certifications up to date. The bonus? You gain valuable skills that make you an even better provider.
At the end of the day, cardiology CME isn’t just another requirement—it’s a way to level up your skills, offer top-tier patient care, and stay on the cutting edge of heart health!
This #HeartMonth, you can also explore shareable resources from the CDC to help you, your peers, and patients make heart-healthy choices and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The American Heart Association also provides links to a wide range of resources – be sure to check them out!
