Virtual CME: Bridging the Gap in Continuing Education for NPs and PAs

Let’s set the stage: The year is winding down, the holidays are looming, and you’re short on time but need CME credit hours before year-end. No problem! Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts makes earning online CME incredibly easy, for physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) – as well as for physicians and registered nurses (RNs). Earn what you need from anywhere in the world, at your own pace, through our On-demand CME, or join us with our virtual CME option at our last in-person CME Conference of the year, November 12-15!

Let’s take a closer look at each option…

On-demand CME

Our on-demand CME is the most flexible option; simply purchase a pre-recorded course on our website and watch CME sessions at your convenience within one or two years of the release date. We offer multiple packages of our best programming from 2024 (worth 33.75 CME credit hours (Rx=8.75), 2023 (39 CME credit hours and Rx=13.5 Rx), and 2022 (19 CME and Rx=5.75).

We also have packaged individual courses dedicated to single topics, ranging from 5.5 CME hours to 19 CME credit hours and including topics such as cardiology and emergency medicine, diabetes, pain management, pharmacology & prescribing, women’s health, orthopedics, and dermatology. All the packages are sourced from our in-person locations, ensuring you’re getting the same up-to-date content as everyone else.

Virtual CME

If you want a more interactive experience, our Virtual CME option allows NPs, PAs, RNs, and physicians to livestream directly from one of our in-person CME conferences, network with peers, and submit questions to the speakers live via the chat function. Our final in-person CME conference is in Las Vegas from November 12-15 and offers up to 39 CME credits and 7 APRN pharmacology credits; mark your calendar and register today to ensure a big boost to your CME bottom line before the end of the year!

“Live streaming is the perfect way to maximize convenience and accountability,” said Cynthia Griffith, MPAS, PA-C, Dermatology Physician Assistant in Dallas, Texas. “Log in during the conference and watch the lectures from your house or office, ask questions, and get them answered by the speaker so you don’t miss anything!”

The effectiveness of online CME has been studied for years, with a report in 2010 stating that the results of a virtual training program for diabetes treatment successfully, “offered the potential of a new medical education pedagogy to enhance learning outcomes beyond that provided by more traditional online or face-to-face postgraduate professional development activities. Obvious potential exists for application of these methods at the medical school and residency levels as well.”

Benefits of Virtual CME:

  1. Flexibility and Convenience: Virtual CME allows healthcare professionals to complete continuing education on their own schedule and from any location, eliminating the need for travel. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for busy nurses and practitioners balancing work and personal responsibilities.
  2. Cost-Effective: Online CME courses generally reduce costs associated with travel, accommodation, and other expenses tied to attending in-person conferences. This makes it an affordable option for those looking to advance their skills without the extra financial burden.
  3. Access to a Broad Range of Topics: Virtual CME platforms typically offer a diverse selection of courses, covering both specialized topics and general updates in medical fields. This breadth allows participants to customize their learning based on their professional interests and current knowledge needs.
  4. Interactive Learning and Networking: Many virtual CME events incorporate interactive elements, such as live Q&A sessions, chat rooms, and discussion boards, providing opportunities to engage with instructors and peers. This creates a collaborative environment where healthcare professionals can learn, ask questions, and network.
  5. Easy Tracking of Progress and Credits: Online CME platforms often provide automated tracking of course progress and earned credits. Participants can quickly download certificates and manage their continuing education requirements efficiently without the hassle of manual paperwork.
